![]() I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Studio, and now I have a CS6. They can all be had with brushed metal pickup covers in black, silver or gold, too.Īnd the next thing you'll want to possibly change are the pots.again, not because Kiesel's are bad, but because changing a pot from a 500k to a 250k can have a big change to the sound of the pickups. There's also the Greg Howe bridge pickup, the Frank Gembale neck pickup, and the Holdsworth set. The Lithiums are the standard on almost all their other models and even were the standard on the carved tops for a while before these new pickups came out. Guys, weve spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. They aren't PAF-like, though, from what most people say they can hear from the few demos that are out there so far (they are new, like I said). Their new standard pickups on the model, the Beryliums (Alnico 2), are more vintage-y than their other main pickup, the Lithiums (Alnico 5). Not that I think Kiesel's are inferior, they just might not be to your taste. My advice: Order it with the stock pickups you think you'll like best, but save $250 budget for replacement pickups, pots and caps. ![]() The pickups/electronics will have a much much much much bigger effect on the tone than the woods you select. Those would be my top picks, but there are also credible offerings from Carvin, ESP USA, Tokai, Gretsch, Epiphone, and the high end if the new Yanaha Revstar.
